Center for the Defense of Children’s and Adolescents’ Rights – CEDEDICA, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization situated in Santo Ângelo, Rio Grande do Sul, with locations in Santa Maria, São Borja, Julio de Castilhos, Três Passos and Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul, with the final objective of executing socio-educational methods for adolescents in conflict with the law. Executes the methods of Service to the Community (PSC) and Assisted Liberty (LA).
The proposition is that each city carry out Local Article 21 with the participation of civil society.
As with each country, each city should adequate its Article to its reality and its situational and conditional differences, always considering the following general principles: participation and citizenship; respect of communities and cultural differences; integration; betterment of the community quality of life; reduction of social inequalities; change in mentalities.
The commitments assumed by the representatives of the countries that approved Global Article 21, are very clear and objective. Transformed in actions, they are: preserve forests and springs, search for substitutes for CFCs and other substances that destroy the ozone layer, prohibit destructive fishing practices, search for new sources of renewable energy, reduce the waste produced, and find alternative combustibles.
